Presidents Trophy – 2nd Round

Match played at West Cornwall GC on Sunday 3rd December

Four weeks after their success in their 1st Round round match, it was a very confident President’s Trophy team of Quinn Bateman, Neil Bradley, Dennis Brown, Kai Dingle, Keith Hawke, Phil Hoare, Dave Hollyoak, Neil Robinson and Mike Smith who arrived at West Cornwall GC to play what proved to be a very strong side from Falmouth in one of the Quarter Final matches of this seasons competition.

Whilst the rain stayed away for most the of the match, the wind continued to grow in strength throughout the day which made playing conditions challenging at times. However, with Falmouth taking the early lead in the majority of games, and some of the St Enodoc team struggling to find the line and pace of the greens, it was clear that it was going to be a very difficult match.

Despite a lot of good golf being played by the St Enodoc team at times and a great performance from Quinn Bateman who won his game 5 & 4, unfortunately however Quinn proved to be the only winner for St Enodoc with the team eventually losing the match 8 – 1 overall. The match was both extremely competitive and very exciting to watch, it was played in great spirit – a credit to both teams.
