Well done you fab Juniors.

Ladies, Men, Seniors, Super-Seniors, Juniors, Office Staff, two labradors and a spaniel turned out in the rain at 0700 today to support William Smith and his greenkeepers on a 3 hour session of divotting. In just under three hours literally thousands of divots on eighteen holes of the Church course were repaired. Lots of chat and banter was enjoyed and the sun come out ! General Manager George Tunbridge and William Smith thanked all those who worked and invited them to a full English Breakfast upstairs in the restaurant.

A score of 39 points sealed the win for Norman Evans and Larry Barnecutt in the Viscountess Clifden foursomes competition played on the Church Course on Sunday. In second place were Richard & Erica Emery with 37, closely followed by Chris & Carole Waights with 36 (helped with an eagle 5 pointer on the 18th. The Captain apologises for not paying attention in the photo!

Another successful Friday night competition on the Holywell, this time the format was Gruesomes! Some played kindly whilst others found their competitive spirit had the better of them.
Norman Evans hit a fantastic shot down the 3rd but, after a fruitless search, played partner Larry Barnecutt’s ball. Imagine the shock and smirk (it was Gruesomes after all) when their playing partners discovered the ball in the hole! So a hole in one, albatross, aged 80 actually turned into a 4 on the scorecard. GM George Tunbridge (keen to let people know he’s also had an albatross) kindly printed a certificate and Norm was presented with a hole in one flag whilst onlookers sipped Prosecco.
The rest of the field, the largest Friday turnout yet, all came in before the rain to enjoy a meal whilst prizes were awarded by CHK. Congratulations to Jane Bendall and David Elliot, winners with 34 points closely followed by Bob & Annie Cruse with 33 and Frank and Lorna Harper with 32.

Keith Willmott
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Keith Willmott who passed away on 20 July aged 86.
Keith has been a proud member of St Enodoc since the 70’s as a Country Member and then Residential.
He was very interested in and researched the history of the club, through older members and records.
Keith was honoured to be invited to hold the office of Club Captain in 2006/7. He was always keen for the future custodians of the Club to always remember the history in the plans for the clubs’ future.
The service will take place on Thursday 15th August at St Endellion Church at 2pm. Afterwards at St Enodoc Golf Club where all are welcome.
Everyone at the Club is wishing Bobby many congratulations for winning the Cornwall Golf Union U14 County Championship. Pictured below.

Well done also to St Enodoc member Alfie who finished tied for 2nd place. The full results can be viewed by clicking on this link.

We are delighted to have been nominated by the prestigious US magazine “Golf Digest” as one of the World’s greatest courses. Here is what they have to say –
This is St. Enodoc’s second appearance on this list since the inaugural World’s 100 Greatest Courses ranking in 2014, when it came in at No. 99. The layout, located in Cornwall in the extreme southwest corner of England, traverses some of the most ideal natural golf land in the UK, bumping through sand hills on the banks of the River Carmel estuary. The routing takes full advantage of the land, turning, twisting and crossing as it works out to far fields, having too much fun to be in any hurry home. One of the world’s most famous hazards is located here, the Himalaya bunker on the short, blind par-4 sixth, a massive crater carved into a dune that was once over 70-feet high, though less so now due to wind and erosion.
More detail can be found here
This nomination reflects great credit on all of our staff both on and off the courses – well done each of you !

In anticipation of an England victory we have an offer of a Burger and a Pint/Soft Drink/Glass of Wine for just £15.
The match will be live in the clubhouse on the TV so come and join us as we cheer on England!

Foursomes Stableford 1/2 combined

Thursday 30th May on the Holywell Course
Congratulations to this fabulous Young Team, who are very new to competitive golf, let alone Matchplay, 3-4 club freezing cold wind and the rough!
All played in great spirits and all enjoying a sit down meal and chatting about their afternoon and how one player, Leo (St Austell) drove the 17th green!
Well done Everyone.
Sam, Alfie, Archie, Eva and Jacob.
The St Austell Team.
Thank you to all those Ladies of St Enodoc, who gave up their time to partner the Juniors in this very popular competition and as I’d expect, the camaraderie and competitiveness was in full swing. Mars bars for nearest the pin were being played for on the par 3’s by two of our Juniors, Tom and Oban!
Out first, were the two Captains, Junior Captain Jack Jolliff with Lady Captain Trudy Tremain playing against Junior Vice Captain Daisy Lane and Past Captain Kath Biddle. Followed by 4 more groups of 4 all playing foursomes Stableford.
Chris Dymond presented the Cup and prizes to Daisy and Kath who won with 37pts and Jack and Trudy 2nd with 36pts and Tom Richards and Suzie Willmott were 3rd with 34pts.
Well done to everyone that took part.

12 couples took part in the Bray Bowl, 18 hole mixed foursomes medal, on Sunday 19th May. The sun shone and for some the golf shone likewise!
Unfortunately due to lack of support there was no competition on the Holywell however, Terry and Cath Buscombe played a friendly match against Lorna and Franks Harper, result all square!!
In third place in the Bray Bowl with a nett 73 were Larry Barnecutt and Norman Evans, in 2nd place on countback were Tuck Claggett and Celia Jarvis and the winners were Meg Godfrey and Jack Jolliff with a super nett 70. Jack gave an excellent acceptance speech and thanked everyone who took part today and all those who helped to make it a success.

Jack takes over as Junior Captain for 2024 and introduces his Vice-Captain, Daisy at the Juniors Presentation Day.

Sunday 4th February saw our CTC side face Tehidy Park Golf Club for a place in the final.
The morning foursomes started with a 2&1 win for Justin Barnard and Rob Macgregor over Louis Archer and Lewis Bradley. St Enodoc would respond however winning the next 3 foursomes matches, with Charlie Runnalls and George Tunbridge winning 5&4 over Chris Hoyle and Lee Chambers, shortly followed by a 5&3 win for Mike Masters and Joe Combellack over Adam Nottman and James Levick. Steve Chapman and Mark Justice would battle back from being 2 down on the 16th tee to win the game 1up against Richard Simmons and James Barnard. Our ninth man Steve Buse won his match 5&4 against Arron Wallace to finish off a great morning session for St Enodoc taking a 3.75 – 1 lead going into the afternoon singles.
Three points were required for St Enodoc in the afternoon however, it was Tehidy who drew first blood with a 3&2 win for Rob Macgregor over Lewis Bradley in match 1. In match 2 a birdie finish was required from Justin Barnard to halve his match with Louis Archer. In match 4 Joe Combellack would get St Enodoc off the mark with an impressive 7&6 win over Adam Nottma. Tehidy then added two more points with Richard Simmons defeating Steve Chapman 2&1 in match 3, followed by a 3&2 win for Lee Chambers over Charlie Runnalls in match 5. Chris Hoyle narrowly beat Mike Masters 2&1 in match 6, meaning 1.5 points were required from the remaining two games. In match 8 George Tunbridge would follow his morning win with a second 5&4 victory of the day, playing against James Barnard. Match 7 was still alive with Mark Justice needing to halve the match for St Enodoc to progress to the the Final. Mark would duly deliver making a brilliant Par on the tricky 17th hole at Trevose and therefore beating James Levick 2&1, securing our place in the Final and a result of St Enodoc 7.25 – 5.5 Tehidy Park.

We would like to thank Tehidy for the great game, Trevose for hosting us, and to all the spectators who came out and supported us on the day.
The final will be played on Sunday 17th March vs West Cornwall at Bude & North Cornwall Golf Club.

Huge congratulations to Dave MacMillan who had a hole in one on the 5th (7 iron, two hops and in) whilst playing in the Senior Stableford competition on Monday 11th December.
