CLCGA Championship
Seven St Enodoc ladies (Kira Barnes, Wendy Briggs, Maria Buckley, Jan Harrison, Cath Hopkins, Caroline HK, Bev Vann) teed up on a wet and windy Thursday to compete in this year’s County Championship. 36 holes later Kira Barnes, Caroline HK and Jan Harrison had qualified into the match play stage of the Championship with Cath Hopkins and Wendy Briggs qualifying for the Plate. Friday’s weather was little better with high winds making West Cornwall a challenge. Kira, Jan, Cath and Caroline won their first round of match play in the morning. After the pm session we had Kira and Cath going into the semi finals.Saturday was a much better day, gentle breeze and sunshine. Cath was unfortunately knocked out on the 17th but Kira won and goes through to the final to be played on Sunday (36 holes match play).Well done to everyone who competed, thanks also to the caddies who managed to keep themselves and their players dry, it couldn’t be done without you.

Five of our ladies have made it through to the Match Play stages of the County Championships starting this morning at West Cornwall GC. Good luck to Kira Barnes, Caroline HK & Jan Harrison who play in the Championships and to Wendy Briggs & Cath Hopkins who play in the Plate. The top 16 players from the qualifying competition play in the Championships and the second 16 in the plate.
Penny Moon and Judith Franks came through the first round of the Daily Mail Foursomes successfully beating The Point at Polzeath away at the Point on the 15th hole. Congratulations to Penny and Judith.

The St Enodoc ladies 2022 Gammon Team had a resounding win yesterday against East Devon GC in the Tamar Trophy winning 6 and 1.

At last the clouds and drizzle that has hung over Cornwall for the last 5 days lifted to leave a reasonably calm day for St Enodoc to host the Tamar Trophy (winners of the scratch league in both Cornwall and Devon). The team of Kira Barnes (caddy Louis Archer); Wendy Briggs (caddy Trudie Tensjo); Caroline Hume-Kendall (caddy Fiona Lunt); Cath Hopkins (caddy Sarah Sandercock); Jan Harrison (caddy Avril Starling); Suzie Willmott (caddy Barbara Willmott); Bev Vann (caddy Sue Roworth) set off very determined to keep the Trophy this side of the Tamar. By the 9th everyone was either up or all square, “the loop” had its usual effect and put most of the St Enodoc players in a commanding position. All the matches were played in good spirits and it was a pleasure to play East Devon GC.
Thanks go to all the players and caddies who were an excellent team. Thanks also go to the several dozen supporters who spurred the team on, the greens team for the presentation of the course and finally to the staff in the clubhouse who looked after us with an excellent meal.
Congratulations to Penny Moon and Judith Franks on winning the Ladies Winter Foursomes. It has been quite difficult getting all the rounds in on time this year due to the frosty weather and course closures. Penny and Judith now go on to represent St Enodoc in the Daily Mail Foursomes competition and we wish them good luck. Commiserations to Meg Godfrey and Jax Buse who were runners up.

The finalists: L Caroline H-K and R Trudy Tremain
The final of the Le Marchant Knockout Cup was played on Monday 29th November in very windy conditions. Congratulations to the finalists Caroline Hume-Kendall and Trudy Tremain. On this occasion Caroline took the honours and the cup, well done Caroline.
