Hotfoot after the publication of the July Seniors Holywell Stableford results comes news of the August competition. The hard-earned reputation of the 'Good Old' Uns' was dented by David Girling who won with 35 points ahead of Derek Kingsbury on 34 and Roy Darnell on 33, albeit it in a small field of nine. Hopefully more 'Good Old Uns' will take part next time and restore their bragging rights.
On the Church course a field of 21 failed to beat 36 points in reasonably good conditions. The ever-ready David Barber won with 34 points from Peter Commings on 33 and Nigel Thomas on 32. As there is no Church Stableford in September, there is plenty of time for those inclined to contemplate how to achieve a score at least as good as their handicap.
