The finals of the Winter Foursomes Competitions took place on both courses on Monday 2nd January which turned out to be a beautifully bright and sunny day.
The pairings of Lorna Harper/Barbara Robson and Judy Redman/Jean Nicholls qualified for the final after successful performances in the earlier rounds. This final was an evenly contested match played in a friendly spirit but Lorna and Barbara edged ahead over the front nine holes and managed to close out the match on the 16th green thanks to some accurate chipping and putting.
All the players involved in this final were experienced match players who have previously enjoyed success in Foursomes Competitions .The match was all square after the front nine and although Bev Vann and Barbara Willmott won the next three holes, Terri Gliddon and Celia Jarvis battled hard to bring the match back to all square on the seventeenth tee. The honours were shared over the next two holes and the players were rewarded with a trip down the nineteenth for their efforts! It took a stunningly accurate approach shot to the green from Bev to swing the balance of the match in their favour. Congratulations to Bev and Barbara who now go forward to represent St Enodoc in this year’s Daily Mail Foursomes Competition.
