The final round of the Williams Cup was played this week bringing the series to a close. The competition has been shortend this year and was played over six rounds with three of those scores to count. It was very close this year with only a couple of points separating first and second and as of the penultimate round it could have been anybody's! However, this week's round was the series decider. Finishing in second in this round on countback, but gaining twenty series points helped Dennis Brown's cause giving him top spot with 58 points and this week's playing partner Greg Mather following closely on 56 points.
Mark Luxton and Kerry Carthew took the honours this week in the final round of the Williams Cup Series with 42 points on countback, just edging out this year's series winner Dennis Brown and his partner Greg Mather who, coincidentally finished second place in the series also on 42 points. Third place this week was a battle as three pairings who all scored 40 points, but James Hutchings & Byron Weston had the best back nine followed by Les Spong and his partner Richard Hambly in fourth place and Andy Bunt & John Paul in fifth place.
