The inauguration of the Williams Cup Series was well supported this Saturday with 84 members signing in for the 4 Ball Better Ball Series. There are to be 10 rounds in the series with 5 rounds to count. Played in pairs, each player will gain series points individually so partnerships can change through the series as tactics and friendships are put to the test!
Phil Jory and Matt Robins started the series with a 41 point round to take first place, both players will earn 20 series points. In second place Matt Mills and Neil Bradley paired up to score 38 points and Adrian Halling and partner Ripker de Boer scored 37 points in 3rd place.
The next 12 pairs all scored 36 points so places were decided by countback. In 4th place Mike Masters and Guy Hovil had 20 points on the back 9, in 5th, Derek Rushton and Neil Carhart had 19 points on the back 9.
Richard Parsons and Richard Norsworthy, Martin Trees and Richard Hambly scored 18 coming home and both pairs had 13 over the back 6 so were separated on the back 3, with Parson and Norsworthy coming out on top. Rob Cook and Andy Bunt also scored 18 coming home but took 8th place over the back 6.
