The Annual West of England Counties Jamboree was played at Saunton in near zero temperatures with a 30 mph 4 club wind on Monday 11th March. Each of the five West of England counties sent four club teams to represent them. The four Cornish clubs were St Enodoc, Trevose, Launceston and Tehidy Park who each provided 3 pairs playing a better ball Stableford on both the East and West courses. The St Enodoc pairs were Malcolm Cole (Captain) & Matt Mills, Nigel Buse & Kevin Francis and Andy Bunt & Simon Pain.
There were prizes for the individual pairs as well as for the 20 Clubs who were competing - on aggregate scores which was won by Trevose on 100 points, Launceston were second on 96 with St Enodoc third on 94. In the Counties Cornwall won for the second time in three years by a clear 11 points from their nearest challengers. The St Enodoc team were absolutely delighted having had to play in some of the most difficult and unpleasant conditions any of them had ever experienced, it not only cheered them up but warmed them up as well!
