Saturday the 24th May offered up yet another version of the popular three-man team events. Two stableford scores were required on each hole except the par threes, where all three scores counted.
The team of Matthew Warr, Simon Pain and Malcolm Mullis turned in an almost obscene score of 87 points, which put them eight points clear of the next best score. A closer look at the card showed that all three players contributed in this balanced attack, but Mullis added some serious weight with two shots on the three lowest handicap holes. He cleverly converted them all into three pointers and the rest as they say….
These fun competitions are a welcome relief for many Saturday players where both the joy of victory and agony of defeat can be shared, unlike the lonely experience of carrying a card around in the medal competitions! The next fun event is Cornwall versus The Rest of The World, which is always good value.
