No fewer than 20 Seniors made their annual visit to Launceston on 7th June for the Duchy Shield Competition. Little did they know that this was to be one of their most successful trips of the year so far, against clubs from both Devon and Cornwall.
The beautiful parkland course was in prime condition and the sun sparkled in a clear sky. However, as temperatures and humidity rose, some of the uphill holes proved to be something of a challenge for one or two of the older old boys !
Three cash prizes in the raffle; a nearest the marker post tee-shot prize; a nearest the pin and four 2's contributed to the after match buzz in the clubhouse. There was a very large field and so results were slow to trickle in. Eventually, three pairs managed to amass a better-ball score of 43 points and the St Enodoc team of Richard Parsons and Malcolm Mullis were declared the winners on count back.
Congratulations to Richard and Malcolm on their fine performance and to the happy band of our other prizewinners.
