The main Seniors Holywell competition of the year was played out on 28th September in glorious late summer sunshine. The course was in pristine condition albeit rather slower than usual and the greens were fast and true. Some said the wind was in the wrong direction, from the East, and quite strong. Consequently the scoring was nothing to be written home about.
David Balmford came third having scored on every hole except the 18th where he was very unlucky with his chip shot after an excellent tee shot had over run the green by a few feet. Tyrell Sandry was second on count back from David; he also failed to capitalise on the 18th after scoring on every other hole .
Ian McLellan. Here's another evergreen alongside Derek Kingsbury who was unable to play at the last moment. David and Tyrell had both scored 35 points but Ian just crep in. His steady play yielded 36 points, so very well done! Guess how many points he got on the 18th. Just one!
