The Farmers, who play every Thursday and is one of the biggest golfing groups at St Enodoc, held their annual Christmas bash on December19th with golf in a team format followed by dinner. The weather was not kind and the golf was cut to 12 holes to save them from an even greater soaking. Their spirits however were not dampened at the dinner which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Following the food John Walker, as usual, entertained us with all the facts and figures of the past year\'s 48 days of play which covered a total of 1,217 individual rounds, 12 more than 2012. During the year there were 29 different winners with the most wins by David Elliott with 5 and Matt Mills with 4 who also won most money with £112.
The golf on the day saw Paul Godfrey win the individual with an excellent 27 points 3 clear of Steve Smith, Chris Tickner and Colin Reynolds. The Malcolm Cole Cup for the best team score was won by Peter Bendall, Paul Godfrey, Mark Stevenson and Steve Smith with 88 points.
The Farmers goes from strength to strength thanks more than anything to the hard work and leadership of John Walker and Eric Symons who run it all with school masterly efficiency coupled with their constant humour particularly when things don\'t quite go to plan. The cameraderie of the individuals comes from never knowing with whom one will be playing, the Stableford card being completed, coupled with the match play element all for the enormous stake of £1. Roll on Thursday!
