The weather on Saturday was not desireable for golf, especially a medal! Just 34 members decided to battle the wind in round 5 of The Battle Trophy. The North Easterly was gusting up to 63 kmph, blowing straight into the first tee shot, so it was hard work all the way. Unsurprisingly the competition was reductions only.
John Paul finished first with a nett 74, he also scored the lowest gross of the day hitting 79, with 2 birdies on the 15th and 16th. John also took 20 series points, pushing him quickly up the table as his 3rd round score.
James Hutchings also had nett 74, with gross score of 80, but had to settle for 2nd place. James also collected 20 series points cemeting his top spot on the table with just 1 round to play.
In third place Andy Carthew scored nett 75 and had his handicap cut to 16. Dennis Brown finished in 4th with nett 76 just ahead of Russell Combellack who also had nett 76 in 5th place.
The final round of the Battle Trophy will be played on Saturday 10th November, there are still a few players in contention for the Trophy, so they will hopefully be in the trenches of the club house on 10th November ready to fight!
