As has been reported earlier the Ladies held their AGM this week and elected Tamsin Blake as their Captain for the next year. With many Ladies being "away" Members Niblick thought it might be useful to reveal some of the many talents of their multi-layered new Captain.
A proud Cornishwoman Tamsin was born in Port Isaac. Married to Richard, also born in Port Isaac (although they didn't know each other until 1992) They have 4 children between them; 2 daughters in Australia, one daughter in Edinburgh & a son in Falmouth. A grandson in Australia coming up to 2 years old and a grand-daughter in Edinburgh who is 7 months.
Tamsin grew up in Cornwall - Port Isaac, St Kew Highway, Truro. Educated at Truro High School. Worked in Banking & Finance for 18 years. Went back to Exeter University in 1998 as a mature student to study French, Italian & I.T. Taught at Wadebridge School for 10 years which she left to spend more time in Australia with family (graduations, weddings, grandchildren....). She has since worked with fellow Member Sue Willmott supporting the school with their Careers advice programme. Now self-employed running a B&B and helping Richard with his gardening business. Tamsin likes the flexibility this brings as it enables her and Richard to go to Australia in the Winter to visit their daughters.
Tamsin started golf when she joined St Kew Golf Club in 2004 at the same time as Annie Cruse. Together they had some entertaining times as new golfers and some very memorable experiences! Tamsin had several friends who were Members at St Enodoc and who invited her to some roll-ups in 2008. She loved the course so much she joined almost immediately! (October 2008) and was made really welcome by all the Ladies. Tamsin likes the fact that the Ladies can sign up to play with whoever they want and that everyone mixes in happily. Like many people it took her a long time to get to grips with the Church course and get her handicap down. It all came together in Summer 2013 when she came down 8 shots in 2 weeks!
Tamsin says "Am still struggling to play to it! I think we are incredibly fortunate to have such amazing facilities on our doorstep; the 2 courses and the clubhouse. Richard and I thoroughly enjoy spending time at the club and getting involved in teams and social events. We particularly like the fact that we can bring our dog out with us when we want to"
