On 3 April seven St Enodoc Ladies took on the Devon team Saunton to play for the Tamar Cup. This has been played for since 2008 by the winners of Cornwall\'s Gammon Cup and Devon\'s winners of the Still Cup. The cup was first won by Devon team, Exeter in 2008, by Tehidy in 2009, Perranporth in 2010, Teignmouth in 2011 and is now returned to Cornwall as 2012 winners.
Jean Tatum led the field against Saunton\'s Emma Taylor, an incredible golfer who is soon to turn pro and Jean had her work cut out for the day but skilfully managed to end the match 1 down. Sue Jones won her match against Alison Downes 3&2, Sue Ofield beat Sally Charnock 4&3, Sarah Sandercock and Sue Vicary played down the 19th and they agreed a half as they\'d heard the whooping and cheering on the 18th. Barbara Graham held her match against Sue Knott to the 18th and finished 1 down, Meg Godfrey played Debbie Webb and pulled off a 5&4 win and Trudie Tensjo, who at the last minute was called in as a reserve, completed the job with a 2 up win against Captain Ann Wallace.
The spectators bench on the 9th green, some of our ladies who have undergone surgery lately but struggled out to watch - quite remarkable!
The team did their club proud, a wonderful experience for players, caddies and spectators alike and a great confidence boost for the coming season. Thanks to the caddies for the day who helped steer our team to victory and the supporters were very much appreciated as always there to cheer the players on.
