In a stiff and cold easterly breeze one hundred and thirty-six golfers set out yesterday (Sunday 4th December) to enjoy the annual St Enodoc Turkey Trot. Some were there more in hope than anticipation whilst others probably had serious designs on the heaving prize table of goodies, organised as always by the Club's Head Professional Nick Williams.
This event is always amongst the most antcipated and well supported of all the Club's events; the whole event is in the hands of Nick Williams who sources the prizes and deals with the miriad details of the event behind the scenes. His work was acknowledged in a brief word of thanks given by the Captain at the end of the day. As always and immediately before the prize giving Nick gave out various fines for misdemenours both real and imagined. This years fines all went to the Ladies Captain's Charity Active8 - including one for the Ladies Captain herself (something to do with an imaginative Christmas jumper).
Amongst the many prizes are those most keenly sought and fought over - namely the Christmas Puddings for worst score of the day. This years proud winners - and whose score shall remain secret - were Martin Wilson and Malcolm Howells. No doubt the linguists amongst our Members will have been wondering why the headline to this piece should be in Swedish - well amongst other reasons - it is an acknowledgement of the nationality of yesterdays winners -
