St. Enodoc Golf Club - St Valentine\'s Greensomes

Last weekend those golfers brave enough to venture out on to the Holywell Course for the Mixed Pandora\'s Box Competition were greeted with driving rain and a bitterly cold wind. Today (17th February) the God Pluvius was thankfully absent but his pal Aeolus was present in full strength with average wind speeds during the afternoon of 22 mph and frequent gusts exceeding 30 mph. Fortunately, the God Apollo was also present to ameliorate the temperature and keep spirits up.

Conditions for the seventy or so golfers who played in the annual St Valentines Greensomes were thus not easy and mistakes were many and often. With the wind coming from the south east the back nine and especially the last four holes were particularly tough; so much so that one Member (he of dual Membership with Truro) wagered his companions a tea cake for reaching the 16th green in three. What their response to this truly sporting offer was is not known and possibly not printable.

No one claimed that golf was easy and although no domestic difficulties have been reported some managed better than others and congratulations are order for:-
