Tuesday 4th March saw the playing of the first annual St Piran's Day Competition which was a Mixed Greensome held in dry conditions but with a fresh South Westerly breeze which did abate helping the later starters. It was felt that we celebrate many other occasions but not the patron saint of Cornwall and the Captain (not himself a Cornishman) suggested that this should be rectified hence this new competition. With a bit of help from the Ladies the event was played on St Piran's day itself which may not always be the case and 24 pairs duly presented themselves on the tee.
We had deserved winners in Anders and Trudie Tensjo on an excellent 37 points despite blanking the last and the other four pairs in the prizes were only separated by one point. Of note was that of the 10 lucky winners of Cornish themed prizes, half were Cornish born and bred. After the golf the players all enjoyed St Enodoc pasties made by our own Matt “Wappo” Westlake and very good there were too - well done Wappo.
Those in the prizes were:-
1st Anders & Trudie Tensjo 37 pts
2nd Terry & Cath Buscombe 36 pts
3rd Rob Davies & Sue Ofield 35 pts
4th Antony Nash & Jax Buse 35 pts
5th Joe & Annie Cruse 35 pts
