Despite playing some fine golf in the afternoon singles and losing but one match St Enodoc had left themselves with too much to catch up after being whitewashed in the morning foursomes at Trevose GC today.
For the first time in memory St Enodoc lost the morning foursomes in this CTC Quarter Final tie 4 points to nil. The sole redeeming feature was a win on the 20th hole in the 9th man match by 2012 Cornwall County Seniors Champion Martin Biddle. Without the valuable 3/4 point thus gained St Enodoc would have found themselves in the next to impossible position of needing 7 points from a possible 8 in the afternoon singles; as it was 6 from 8 was a major task.
As can be seen from the results below our CTC team almost pulled off the impossible – winning four, halving three and losing one in the afternoon. Of particular note was the performance of Josh Walsh in winning 8 & 6 with a score of 5 under par for his 12 holes. Also a great birdie on the difficult 18th by Jack Irwin to gain his half a point.
