In spite of some very wet conditions, the players in the annual St Enodoc Charity Day (formerly Chris Harbour Day) all had smiles on their faces at the end of their rounds. Somewhat bedraggled and weary but happy nonetheless - the Church Course worked its wonders on those who had never played it and for those who had...well, they too seemed delighted to have made the journey. The Captain and his Lady Wife, the Ladies' Captain and the Vice Captain all worked very hard to make the day a success. The Captain has learned that the ladies have an uncanny knack for selling raffle tickets, some je ne sais quoi that men will never understand! The two worthy charities benefitting from the day are Macmillan Cancer Care (specifically the Cove Project) and Memory Matters, each of whom will be receiving a healthy injection of funds once the final tallies are finished.
The winners on the day were the St Kew Inn team of Mike Masters, Paul Stapleton, Paul Dingle and Joe Cruse, who romped in with 89 stableford points in the 2 scores-to-count format. The next best 3 scores were all on 78 points, and won by the Clevedon Codgers in second, The Slackers in third, and Staddon Heights 'B' in fourth place.
A very big 'thank you' to all those members and businesses who helped sponsor the event through either raffle prizes or hole sponsorships, without whom the day would not be nearly as successul.
