On Monday 2nd March it was a case of now or never regardless of the weather. However, Andy Bunt and Kevin Preater had luck on their side with a small window of opportunity albeit windy, but nevertheless dry! It was a good field of competitors in this year's knockout including last year's winner Paul Clemens, looking to retain the cup. Both Andy and Kevin had quite a tough road to the final having seen off the competition with Kevin's semi final against Rod Frost going down the nineteenth and Andy winning on the eighteenth against John Paul.
The final was fairly evenly matched all through the front nine with Kevin eventually going two up through thirteen holes. Coming into the fourteenth the tables started to turn as Andy closed the gap back to one and then to all square after the fifteenth. On the sixteenth Andy took another hole going 1up and at the seventeenth Kevin's tee shot went slightly awry whilst Andy's went over the back of the green. Both second shot's didn't go to plan and Kevin playing his third shot ended up short of the hole, but Andy redeemed himself by chipping in to take the hole and the match 2&1. The match was played in very good spirits. Well done to both on making the final and congratulations to Andy for winning the South West Challenge Cup!
