The Soper Rose Bowl Finalists - Terri Gliddon (left) with Barbara Graham
The Soper Rose Bowl is a replica of the Littlehampton Golf Clubs Presidents Cup which was won by Miss Sopers father in 1901. It was presented to the club in 1987 by Biddy Soper.
A Knockout Competition played off handicap.
The Final was played between Terri Gliddon and Barbara Graham.
Barbara got off to an excellent start, a birdie on 2, a 30 foot par putt on 5- she went 3 up after 5 holes. With the determination that Terri is known for, she won 6, 7 & 8 to get the match back to all square. The match then remained very close Terri won the 10th to go 1 up, Barbara replied with an excellent tee shot on the 11th, match all square again. It was then a super 2nd shot to the 14th which saw Barbara edge ahead again. Terri then won the 15th-all square again. On the 16th, Barbara took control again by going 1 up, 17 was halved and so onto the final hole with Barbara 1 up, and just short for 2, put the pressure on Terri to chip close..Unfortunately not to be- so close yet so far!
Well done to Barbara on winning her first Knockout Cup since joining St Enodoc seven years ago.
Commiserations to Terri who was playing in her second knockout final this year.
A great final to referee. Well done to both of you for making it so exciting.
