….Don’t mention the Ryder Cup! The USA dominated Europe for four sessions out of five, with the conclusion in the singles on Sunday, which the hosts won 7½ to 4½. Here at St Enodoc, the putting might not have been quite up to the excellence of the USA team, but with just 4 clubs in their bags our members scored well.
45 members entered the Sir Cecil Carr 4 Club competition on Saturday. Club selection was made before the round and was the source of much debate. However for those at the top of the score sheet it seems they do not need more than 4 clubs!
Andy Carthew won with 31 points, he had a storming back 9 putting him at the top on countback. In the last round of the Metropole Cup, Andy had a full bag of clubs and scored a full 9 points less than he did this week!! David Elliott finished in 2nd place also with 31 points having to countback over the back 6 to finish ahead of Matt Robins in 3rd place.
Matthew Warr came in 4th with 30 points followed by a gaggle of golfers on 29 points picking up the last of the prizes. Dennis Brown was 5th, Greg Mather 6th, Paul Warren 7th and Andy Beare finished in 8th place.
