The Sir Cecil Carr 4 Club competition always causes a lot of discussion in the Club House. Selection of just 4 clubs for the round can cause quite a dilemma and could be crucial to the result. The winning selection this year was: Driver, 7 Iron, Sand Iron and Putter. Of course some other players thought this to be the wrong combination but it worked for Norman Evans!
Norman had a 1 minute tête à tête with Joe Cruse to align his putting before teeing off and claims to have putted well all the way round. From the 5th hole on found his form, only dropping one shot all the way home, scoring 22 points on the back 9 and finishing with 36 points. Norman even got a birdie 2 from the Cecil Carr Tee on the 15th.
In second place James Hutchings scored 33 points with his 4 clubs, Nigel Connolly and Andy Bunt both scored 32 points in 3rd and 4th place and Matthew Warr, Guy Hovil and Kerry Carthew scored 31 points to finish 5th, 6th and 7th. Paul Clemens, Robbie Moore and Matthew Smith took the rest of the prizes in 8th, 9th and 10th place with 30 points.
