On a warm sunny autumn day, St Enodoc seniors hosted our North Devon friends for the return match. We were set to avenge our defeat in Devon and to overturn the five and a half two and a half defeat.
Our first pair of Keith Willmott and Richard Parsons gave us a flying start with a 7/6 win. This was followed with a second win from Wayne Mitchell and Bill Hughes 2/1. The senior statesmen of Frank Harper and John Russell romped home with a 5/4 victory. Mike Lovett and David Balmford won 1 up, then Nigel Thomas and John Westlake won 2/1.
We needed one more win to secure an overall victory which was delivered by Kevin Birkett and Geoff Matthews 3/2. Our one loss came in match 7 when Keith and Paul Godfrey narrowly lost on the 18th. A consolation gave Keith Godfrey nearest the pin and a bottle of wine. Our final pair of Norman Evans and Harry Gliddon secured yet another win 3/2
This 7/1 victory for St Enodoc also gave us an overall win in the series 9.5 to 6.5.
Well done team.. .
(PS: Apologies for the late posting of this report but the bloke that does this sort of stuff was away on his hols, no reflection what so ever on Captain of the Day)
