On Monday, May 14th, the Seniors hosted a visit by the Perranporth Seniors with whom they have had a number of close matches in recent years. The rain mercifully cleared as the first pair strode onto the second tee, and thereafter the match was played in gradually improving conditions finishing in glorious sunshine. By all accounts there was some good quality golf played which resulted in a win for St. Enodoc by six matches to two, a most satisfactory result given that five of the opposition played off handicaps of 10 or less.
The nearest the pin prizes were won by Mick Allen of Perranporth and Richard Parsons who, curiously, were playing in the same four-ball.
Apart from a runaway trolley which the opposing Captain was barely able to control, there was little incident other than that which led to a new award for \'Shot of the Day\'. One of the opposition, in a match which went to the 18th, hit his third shot with such force that it re-bounded off the Clubhouse wall (narrowly missing a window) to within two yards of the side of the green. His award was presented after a much-enjoyed meal to great acclaim.
