The Seniors played their rescheduled match against Launceston, as the earlier fixture had been called off due to the bad weather. There was no problem this time on a glorious sunny day with little wind.
Usual Captain of the Day, Geoff Matthews was away playing with his MG, so David Ramsbottom took the reins alongside Seniors Captain Steve Smith. Unfortunately , they didn’t show the way, going down 3 and 2. Thereafter, it was close going, with St Enodoc retaining their long held unbeaten home record, winning by 4.5 to 3.5. It remains to be seen, whether St Enodoc can retain their annual trophy, when the two sides play the return match in August.
There was a novelty with nearest the pin, in that Nigel Thomas didn’t win it for a change !
These matches are always very friendly affairs and a thoroughly enjoyable day came to an end with the usual excellent meal.
