Despite dire weather forecasts, the Seniors were able to have their Open, with only the early starters hit by heavy rain. Thereafter, there was not too much drizzle or rain to contend with and only a few absentees, leaving 152 players to contest the pairs competition.
This is a prestigious event, with entries from all over the UK, including Scotland, with substantial prizes going down to 6th place. Once again St Enodoc was complimented for the quality of the course, the food and the service provided by both the Seniors volunteers and the Club staff.
Scoring was good, with count back for the top 3 positions, with 43 points.
The winners were G Perrott and S Wicks from West Cornwall (shown above with Seniors Captain, Geoff Matthews)
2nd were M Charnock and J Dunlop from Downes Crediton
3rd D Heaton from Warren and M Howe from Downes Crediton
Thanks to the Raffle organised by Betty Balmford, nearly £300 was raised for the St Enodoc Captains Charity.
This was the last Open to be administered by John Harbinson as Open Secretary. After many years of dedicated service, John is handing over to Dereck Stevens.
