This is the holiday month when Senior Grandfathers turn up at the Monday roll-ups looking for respite from the annual invasion by grandchildren and sundry dogs. The first competition was the Church Stableford won in some style by Peter Commings with 39 points from Harry Gliddon in second on 37 and Geoff Matthews third with 35 - Peter’s gross 73 included a three-off-the-tee at the 11th. In the Holywell Stableford David Girling triumphed with 38 points with Geoff Longman second on count-back ahead of David Bentley, both on 36. The Holywell Matchplay final was won by Geoff Longman who beat Peter Davies in much the same manner that he had dismissed all his previous opponents, proving once again that a good old un will usually beat a good young\' un.
The matches followed the pattern of recent months with two more losses firstly away at Lanhydrock 3 ½ - 4 ½, and then at home against Saunton 4 - 6. Our last win was way back in June – high time for some improvement.
