The Saints travelled to Carlyon Bay for their last away match of the season. They arrived in mist and drizzle and whilst the course was quite squidgy in places it was still in good condition and the weather improved considerably after the first hour or so.
Some really excellent golf was played by both sides in what were extremely tight and competitive games. In fact, the first seven matches all went to the 18th, before the matches were decided. Captain of the day, David Ramsbottom, led the way by parring the 18th, to level the first match. Therefore, the partnership with Mike Lovett remains unbeaten in the matches they have played together.
Alas, home advantage told in the end and Carlyon Bay ran out winners by 5 matches to 3. All in all, it was a magnificent days golf, great camaraderie with Carlyon Bay and an excellent meal to finish. The return and final match will be played on Sunday November 5th. (players needed)
