That powerful and ancient sentinel, the guardian of the Church course, a strong south-westerly, was on duty once again to present a challenge to 23 Seniors who took part in the monthly qualifier on 04 February.
For many, if not the majority, it proved almost a ‘challenge too far’ as one or two of the field appeared almost reluctant to hand in their cards after the round. Only three players scored over 30 pts, led by our noble Vice-Captain who was alone in beating his handicap and played a round which seemed quite untroubled by wind – an enviable achievement somewhat uncommon among the Seniors.
1st – Nigel Thomas 39 pts
2nd – David Elliott 35 pts
3rd – John Bower 35 pts
