In the final match of the season and after their crushing defeat at St Enodoc a few weeks ago when they lost 7 – 1, Carlyon Bay proved a very different proposition when they entertained the Old Saints at home on Friday, 10 October.
Despite the Seniors’ best efforts, including several birdies, the home team, presumably with dentures clenched, trusses tightened and all replacement parts well oiled, romped home comfortably by 6½ - 1½. Captain of the Day, Richard Wall, in a damage limitation exercise (what else could he do ?), was quick to point out that the aggregate of both matches left our old boys victorious by 8½ - 6½ overall. Small comfort perhaps, considering that his team had to wait until the seventh match for the first victory !
