Severall times a year the Church course is not available to the Seniors for their usual Monday roll-up due to prior events. The first happened on 19th May and your correspondent apologises for the delay in reportage. (This was due to several personal senior moments!)
This occurrence results in lots more of us wanting to play on the Holywell and there were 32 congregated in the clubhouse for a 12.00hrs start. Captain Nigel Thomas and hard-working Tony Mindel did a draw for partners which luckily resulted in 8 four-balls. AND each four-ball had two usual Churchmen paired with two usual Holies! Coincidence I was assured. The format was two Stableford scores from each team per hole.
Resulting scores ranged from a creditable 72pts to a fantastic 92pts by Messrs Barber, Phillips, Girling and Bower. This included an eagle for John Bower on the 3rd and a birdie for David Barber at the same hole and 9pts! It would take far too much space to record all winners names so suffice it to say that everybody thoroughly enjoyed the day and many calls for more of the same were heard. The next one is scheduled for 14th July so see you then.
