Recently there has been an initiative to acknowledge low gross performances in our medal competitions to pay tribute to the best scores irrespective of handicap. Similarly, there has historically been a knockout competition where the players all played off scratch, this being the true test of the best golfers in the club.
The Scratch Play Knockout competition was last played in 1999 and for reasons unknown has not been in the club calendar since. The Committee felt this was a knockout that needed revival and thus it was re-introduced in the autumn.
It comes as no surprise that the club’s two premiere players – Joe Cruse and Anthony Nash - made their way to the final. Ultimately it was Joe’s day and he is the 2011 Scratch Play Champion. Joe adds this win to his Magor Gold Medal triumph earlier in 2011, consolidating his position at the top of St. Enodoc for the year. Congratulations Joe on a another fine victory.
