The Rowe Cup was played this Saturday in beautiful conditions. Ahead of our course maintenance week, the greens were still splendid and the weather held for yet another sunny round. There was one rain shower but it fell exclusively on John Paul!
The Rowe Cup is a Par competition. 71 members entered, testing themselves against the course. They played with full handicap allowance and finished each hole either up or down on par.
11 players held the course at bay this weekend. Eight players finished level after 18 holes:Dave Pooley, Richard Bentley, Tuck Clagett, Steve Buse, John Glynne-Jones, Andy Carthew, Paul Warren and Steve Cock.
In 3rd place in the Competition and finishing +1 was Phil Jory. Phil started the round in excellent form finishing up on holes 1, 2 and 3. At 14 he was still +4, but had a trickier time on 15, 16 and 17. David Elliott finished in 2nd place, also having started well, he maintained his score with a level par back nine.
David Biddle took 1st place and wins the Rowe Cup 2014. David’s front nine was spectacular, he was +5 after 9 and continued on form; +6 after 13 and then maybe he started to think about winning! He lost against 14, 15, 16 and 18 but had already done enough to finish victorious with +2. Congratulations David!
