St. Enodoc Golf Club - Rob Davies moves on to a new challenge

Rob Davies moves on to a new challenge

Our popular Golf Reception Manager, Rob Davies, is moving on to pastures new and will be greatly missed by Members of St Enodoc and doubtless our many visitors too.

Rob joined the staff in November 2010 from Trevose, where he was an Assistant Greenkeeper for just over a year. Originally employed to work in the bar Rob quickly moved on to Golf Reception with the retirement of Tim Gorringe. Prior to working at Trevose Rob was a greenkeeper at the Harbour Town Golf Club on Hilton Head Island. He learned his golf as a junior at Cotswold Edge GC in Gloucestershire where he played for ten years. Rob came to St Enodoc as a 3 handicap golfer and bucked the normal trend for new members in that his handicap decreased rather than the usual increase. This he attributes to instruction from our Head Pro - Nick Williams.

Rob\'s golfing talent was soon recognised by the CTC Team and he played in the winning teams of 2011 and 2013. In June last year he became the Club Champion by winning the Magor Gold Medal with a 36 hole total of 145. He was a losing semi-finalist in last years Cornish Championship and late in the summer his talents were finally recognised by the County when he played in the winning Cornwall Channel League team.

He said \"I have had a fantastic time here and the Members have been brilliant, I will miss this place\"

Rob is now taking up is first love - greenkeeping - for which he holds formal qualification and has been appointed as Head Greenkeeper at the place where he grew up - Cotswold Edge GC

We wish him, and his partner Marie, every success in their move and hope to see him here on our links many times in the future.
