The Rex Machin Salver is an 18 hole, foursomes stableford, played annually in September.
This Saturday, 26 pairs turned out to contest the salver, playing off a half combined handicap. There was an easterly breeze setting a bit of a challenge but overall a beautiful day.
Leading the way and claiming the Salver with 37 points were John Paul and Tuck Clagett. An outstanding front 9 score of 23 points put them well ahead and enough to hold on to the lead through some less convincing holes on the back nine!
In second, again with a strong front nine score of 20, were Joe Combellack and Rich Lawrence scoring 33 points overall. Last years winner, Norman Evans, with partner Malcolm Knight came in 3rd on countback with 32 points, just pipping Bob Cruse and Ripker Deboer who also had 32 points to finish fourth. In 5th place on 30 points were Phil Hoare and Russell Combelleck, beaten by his son again!
