The Red White and Blue Team Competition tested our members this Saturday. Teams of 4 played from a mix of blue tees, white tees and those tricky red tees! The scoring was a little tricky too, with 2 scores to count off the blue tees, 3 scores to count off the whites and all 4 scores to count off the red tees.
As far as the weather was concerned it really was preferable to play early. By 3pm the wind and rain had hit with full force, leaving some teams a little wet by the time they made it back to the club house. The winning team did indeed have an early start time but they still outstripped their fellow early birds!
With 113 points Malcolm Cole, Ripker De Boer, David Elliott and Joe Tamblyn won by a clear 8 points. All members of the team scored consistently with Ripker and Malcolm scoring particularly well.
Martin Biddle, Rod Frost, Nick Evans and Geoff Jones made up the second placed team and scored 105 points. The red tees caused some trouble for the team with Martin, playing off 3, scraping a 6 off the red tee on the second!
Dave Pooley, John Williams, Will Rich and Mike Kent took 3rd place on countback ahead of Nigel Goodman, Andy Carthew, John Westlake and Dave Bastard who finished in 4th place. Both teams scored 96 points.
