Saturday was dry but cold for the 78 members who entered the Red White and Blue team competition. Played in teams of 4, the course was played from 6 blue tees, 6 white tees and most difficult of all; 6 red tees, with 2 scores to count from the blue tees, 3 scores to count from the whites and all 4 scores to count from those tricky red tees.
In first place with 104 points was the combined genius of Andy Beare, Andy Golding, Chris Gill and Kevin Parker. With all 4 players on form the team only missed one score on the 13th which was played off the red tee. Not a single team managed to return all 4 scores for each red tee!
In second place, Mark Westlake was joined by Glyn Sandoe, Rob Marks and Matt Hambly, all new members. The team scored 100 points. Watch this space, they could be regular prize winners in the Saturday competitons!
3rd place was taken by Joe Cruse, Joe Tamblyn, Richard Blake and Malcolm Knight with 98 points. 4th to 6th place was decided by countback, so like Plymouth Argyle, a couple of late scores were an advantage for Nick Shelley, Malcolm Mullis, John Radford and Neil Carhart who finished in 4th. They were ahead of John Rowe, Mark Jarvis, Andy Griffiths and Ken Perring in 5th and Colin Reynolds, Graham Keeble, Neil Bradley and Stuart Fleet in 6th, all with 97 points.
