On Wednesday 29th the Rabbits held their John Wills Yellow Ball Competition on the Holywell Course in fine but cool conditions. This competition was introduced to the Rabbits by John a few years before he died, the trophy being a model of his golf buggy made by his grandson as a school project. In recent years it has been run as a Charity Day raising money for local charities and clubs.
This years winners were Ann Crossley, Roy Davis and Ken Lawrence with a score of 37 points beating Mary Hooper, Peter Mattinson and Maurice Berry-Hicks on countback. Third place went to Sally Holdsworth, Jim Brown and Alan Waterworth on32 points.
Five hundred and thirty six pounds was raised (by fair means and foul!!) to be donated in equal amounts to F.L.E.E.T. and the Polzeath Surf Life Saving Club as nominated by last year`s winners.
All in all, a most enjoyable and worthwhile day.
