The Prideaux Brune and Le Marchant Cups were contested on Saturday 9th August. A medal competition for both divisions with 35 players in division 1 and 27 in division 2. The weather was fairly friendly, although blustery throughout the day with a few showers in the afternoon.
The course was, as always, in top condition for the competition. The greens are excellent having recently been top dressed and the rough is not quite as punishing as it has been. The scores returned were solid, giving a Competition Standard Scratch of 72 with gross scores of 70 winning in both divisions.
Division 1, the Prideaux Brune Cup, was won by Keith Hawke scoring 70 followed by Anders Tensjo in second with 71. Prizes were awarded down to 6th position with 3rd to 6th all on 72 – Neil Carhart, Richard Lawrence, Rob Cook and Steve Smith.
The Le Marchant Cup, Divison 2 was won by John Westlake also scoring 70. 2nd and 3rd went to Andy Griffiths and Matthew Warr with gross scores of 72 and 4th and 5th place was Kevin Richards and Tristan Lang both with gross scores of 73.
Well done to all who entered even those 13 making Nil Returns!
