On offer in this week's competition were the trophies for two handicap categories, The Prideaux Brune for the lower handicappers (12 and under) and the Le Marchant for the higher handicappers (13 and over). Contrary to the weekend forecast the weather was surprisingly nice giving the golfers a decent chance of returning a good score in this medal competition. There were forty entrants in the Prideaux Brune and as medal's go the scoring was very close, but there can only be one winner and it was Matt Smith's turn with a nett 70. Second place was a scrabble with four people on nett 71 - Lewis Bradley, John Paul, Dennis Brown and Matthew Warr, but Lewis had the better score on countback.
In the Le Marchant there was a similar entry including two of our junior members, Liam Bateman and Jamie Beare who both did exceedingly well. So much so Liam won with a fantastic nett 71 and closely followed by Terry Carthew, Kevin Preater and Jamie all with a nett 72 (in that order). Definitely one's to watch in the future!
Trophies will be presented at the Men's Presentation on Saturday 27th December.
