Fifty-nine players teed off on Saturday the 3rd of September to compete for the coveted Presidents Cup. This was a drawn competition playing predominantly in 3-balls. The early starters got the best of the weather and conditions became increasingly difficult in the afternoon with rain and wind providing some interesting golf. Scoring was difficult in a westerly wind that sometimes made club choice quite tricky.
In the end it was Mark Richards who dealt best with the elements, shooting a very impressive net 67, four shots clear of the field. Geoff Jones and Simon Lord shared the second best scores with net 71s. The post-round discussions were interesting with many personal dramas unfolding. The “what could have been” tales abounded!
