All things considered, there has not been very much to report on in the last few weeks. Lots of people away enjoying the recent spell of good weather, such occupations as gardening, dogs, watching test matches and Opens has resulted in much reduced appearances even by the stalwarts. A recent innovation, stolen from the Churchmen, has been to compete in threes or fours with two or three scores to count, against the others. This has proved very popular.
In the quarter finals of the matchplay knock-out, Derek Kingsbury beat John Baxter, Ian McLellan beat Peter Battle, yours truly beat Mike Kent, and Nigel Gallagher and Geof Matthews enjoyed a great battle, ending in another eagle for Nigel at the 19th. The semi-finals are to be played by the 7th September. Any body spot the dark horse?
