St. Enodoc Golf Club - Mixed fortunes for St Enodoc at the Cornish Festival - Day 3

The final day of the Cornish Festival saw a stunning gross 64 from Joe Cruse yesterday at Newquay and which helped Nick Wiliams team up the leaderboard and where they finished 7th. Joe\'s round included 13 pars and 5 birdies in very windy conditions; his score would comfortably have beaten any of the Pro\'s on the day.

Mark Arrowsmith\'s team and Mark in particular did not fare so well and for which they blame the local seagulls. Mark started the day tied 4th overall, was playing well and looked good for a tidy pay day. Playing the long par 5 15th Mark blocked his tee shot right, chipped out with a 9 iron but then lost his ball. Now playing his 4th shot Mark again chipped out and hit his 5th straight and true towards the green but where it was nowhere to be found. In the meantime Norman Evans had played his shot towards the green; he left his bag next to his ball and went back to help Mark on his ball hunt. When Norman returned his ball was missing. The likely culprits for these two missing balls are assumed to be seagulls and who had already stolen balls on the course during the week. Be that as it may the end result was a 9 for Mark and a glacial slide down the leader board where he finally finished tied 23rd after a round of 78. His team despite their tribulations managed 10th place overall.
