Sunday 15th June saw St Enodoc take on Royal North Devon in the 5th round of the Mail on Sunday Classic team knockout competition. St Enodoc were drawn away for the second time in this competition and this was always going too be a tough venue for them but returning to the team for this match was the very popular and good golfer Rob Davies.
Every one of the away team were receiving shots in their respective matches on the day of the competition and first out was John Pease playing C. Drew receiving 2 shots; after a hard fought battle John eventually lost his match on the 18th hole one down. Next out was Kevin Brenton playing the big hitter N. James who proved a bit too good on his home course and beat our man 3 & 2 . Third out was captain Andy Bunt playing youngster Kieran Tanton with Andy receiving 2 shots, this was a great battle with good golf played from both players and our man won this contest 2 up. Fourth up for St Enodoc was youngster Joe Combellack playing C. Hampton and again a very good game followed with good golf but in the end Joe lost 2 down. Last but not least was Rob Davies playing O. Tanton who plays off +2 , on his own course the home player on the day proved too strong for our man and he won quite convincingly 5&4. In the end a 4-1 defeat for the away team.
