Foursomes golf is difficult enough, make it a scratch medal foursomes in a stiff breeze at Newquay then some real questions are asked of your game. Thankfully the sun was shining as St Enodoc’s team of six prepared for action in this County men’s event involving sixteen club teams. The format is 36 holes medal, 3 pairs per club, the two best scores to count in each round. Steve Buse and Mark Westlake, Joe Cruse and Joe Combellack, Steve Chapman and Robbie Moore represented the club.
Perhaps it was the early start or perhaps the Magor exertions of the previous day however the morning round did not go well but at least there was some consistency as they scored 81, 81, and 80 respectively. Whilst the lunch may not have been to everyone’s taste the soup certainly reached the parts other soups do not reach. The scoring improved dramatically. The two Joes were round in 71, lipping out with long putts on 17 and 18, the second best round of the afternoon, Steve and Mark returned a 74, and Steve and Robbie a 76, the 18th being costly to both pairs. It resulted in a move up the table from near the bottom to 8th place.
