Yet again in very wet and windy conditions the St Enodoc Ladies went out to play against Dorset Golf and Country Club in the 7th Round of the Mail on Sunday Competition on July 15th. With the wind blowing hard across the estuary from Padstow every hole was a battle and keeping the ball on line a challenge. The rain, which was forecast to clear by about 10am, continued intermittently throughout the round and made play even more difficult. With our ladies getting used to playing in such conditions the Dorset ladies had a real challenge on their hands but gave us all a good match.
Sue G Jones had to give 11 shots to a lady playing off 20 handicap but still managed a half. Sarah Sandercock had a real battle but only lost 4 & 2. Meg Godfrey won 2 & 1, Celia Jarvis held a 2 up lead to win 3 & 2 and Di Dingle brought up the rear with a 5 & 3 win.
The final result being 3 1/2 to 1 1/2 to St Enodoc. We will now await news of the 8th round draw. We heard today that we will be playing Trevose at Carlyon Bay at 10am on 5th August in the semi-finals of the Gammon Trophy.
