Two members of the St Enodoc staff Matt Westlake and Mark Arrowsmith will be running in this year’s London Marathon on 22nd April which is always a tremendous money raiser for charity. Matt, more commonly known as \"Wappo\" who is now the Club’s Second Chef ran last year in a time of 4 hours 36 minutes and in the process raised more than £3,000 for Fleet for whom he is running again this year. Mark, our Teaching Professional, on the other hand is new to this form of personal torture but he also is running on behalf of Fleet.
Fleet is a charity set up in 1990 to raise money to provide front line equipment in Cornwall for our emergency services which include not only the Ambulance Service but also Fire Brigade, Police, Coastguard, Lifeboat and Air Ambulance. To date Fleet has raised over £1.5 Million.
Full details on Fleet can be found on their website at www.fleet.org.uk. Very conveniently on the front page is a link under \"Meet and Support our Fanastic 2012 Marathon Runners\" to each individual member of the Fleet team which takes you to their own page on which it is simplicity itself to make a donation. If you are a tax payer it automatically enables Fleet to reclaim the tax which increases your donation by 25% but please make sure you tick the box which says \"I am a U.K. taxpayer\".
The boys have been training hard, last year Wappo lost 4 stone before even reaching Greenwich and they are taking their preparation very seriously. Please support them in their efforts as not only will it give them a real lift when pounding away on the streets of London but also you are benefiting one of the most worthwhile and practical local charities. GO ST ENODOC, GO FLEET !
