It has been a long season for the Seniors with the usual bounteous success at home and great disappointment on the road. Oh how different it was when the old boys visited Tehidy Park on Thursday, 10 September.
Under blue skies with a steady breeze, Harry Gliddon opened the proceedings and hit a storming drive down the first. Clearly intimidated, the opposition stumbled and Harry won the hole without the need to putt. Three up after three holes - the lead team had set the tone for the day.
Whispered messages passed along the line confirmed a strong start across the team, was there to be a shock result? An away win?
In the end the victory was comfortably achieved by a 6 – 2 margin with several teams recording crushing wins.
Keith Hawke collected another bottle of wine to add to his expanding cellar but he was unable to make the putt or to win his match. The pressures of captaining the Frank Wills squad are taking an early toll.
